Peter Wohlleben was born in 1964 in Bonn, Germany. From an early age he wanted to become a conservationist. He studied forestry and worked for over twenty years for the state forestry commission in Rhineland-Palatinate. Wanting to remain true to his ecological principles, he gave up his job and today runs an environmentally-friendly municipal woodland area in the Eifel region. His work centres on the preservation of the old forests, and he offers courses in survival training as well as camps for building log cabins. He has been a guest on various TV shows, gives talks and seminars and is a successful author of books on topics relating to forests and nature conservation.
