
Margret Rettich
Margret Rettich, born in 1926 in Stettin, is a well-known and busy illustrator and author of children's books. After studying Graphic Arts at the Kunstschule in Erfurt she worked as a freelancer in advertising, for publishers of children's books and school books, for magazines and for the television. Her books were frequently awarded, among others by Stiftung Buchkunst in the category "Die schönsten deutschen Bücher". In 1981 she won the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis in the category picture book. In 1997 Margret Rettich and her husband, the children's books illustrator Rolf Rettich, were awarded the Großer Preis der Deutschen Akademie für Kinder- und Jugendliteratur for their life's work.
